I bet you thought you'd heard the last of us, and technically, you have. At least of Dark CARMA. We are officially closing this blog down in a couple weeks and wanted all our wonderful followers to know where they can find us. We are no long a group of 3 or 5 or even 10. We are now 25 and call ourselves

THE INDELIBLES.

The Indelibles is the brain child of Shelli Johanness, and she was gracious enough to invite us to join her. If you liked our contests and giveaways, you're going to LOVE what we have planned on the Indelible blog. Here's what's happening with our new group.

A group of twenty five independently published authors have all banded together to support each other and get the word out about great indie publishing books and authors.

And guess what? We launch on Monday, January 9th. yay!

In a word?

Wow

I'd leave it at that, but then I wouldn't be able to say Thank You for all the support you gave us yesterday. We were afraid no one would come. Hahahahaha! Yeah. That didn't happen.

We did our Twitter party in three sections and we were hopping during each one. We gave away over fifteen books! We Tweeted so often that all of us, Christine, RaShelle and myself, were sent to "Twitter jail"--a place I didn't even know existed before yesterday.

It was funny because early on, BooksOverBoys (coolest Twitter name ever) said she hoped she wasn't sent to Twitter jail. Of course I asked, and she explained, then not an hour later *I* was sent to Twitter jail. A place I went to three more times before the day was over.

We were joined by many people, other writers, book bloggers, and fellow authors (authors!). It was a fabulous, fun time and made our launch day perfect.

The Value of Friendship

Growing up in a small town meant I didn't have a lot of friends. It didn't help that prior to high school, I was an army brat and moved around a lot. As soon as I made a friend, we'd be gone or they'd be gone and I'd have to start all over again. I learned two very valuable lessons through that process.

1) I totally suck at making friends. Who wants to get their heart broken over and over?

2) Real friendships need a lot of work and sacrifice to keep them going.

Take Kira in BOUND for an example. She's shy and withdrawn, but she makes friends with Lydia and would do just about anything to keep that friendship alive. Not just figuratively, but literally. Kira risks death in order to save Lydia's life. How better to prove your loyalty?

I hope none of us have to prove our friendships like that, but it does make me wonder about a few people I've wronged over the years and what they think of me now. There was nothing horrible or unforgiving between us, just stupid little things that left the relationship filled with regret. Some say you can never go back, but I think if we do everything we can to mend a broken friendship, at least there won't be as much bitterness.

There was a time in my life when I thought I was pretty much good for nothing. I'd made a series of terrible decisions, had some bad crap happen to me and I just felt . . . lost. Lonely. Worthless.

But the thing about life is, as long as we're living, there's still chance to make another choice. To turn things around. Usually it's a choice to trust someone--to let someone into our lives, into our hearts, to take a chance.

In BECOME, Desi pretty much thinks she's worthless too. She figures, how can she have done so many bad things and not just be bad. How do you come back from bad choices? I've been there myself and I know exactly how that feels.

For Desi, the chance to choose a different path comes from a friend. Desi says, "I could be the same as I ever was, or I could be something more."

I managed to turn my life around, but you'll have to read BECOME to find out what choice Desi makes. ;)

PASSIONATE ABOUT...

As a teenager I had big dreams -- of becoming a star. Movie star. Rock star. Dance star. All of them.

I would be awesome.

Except... imagine some of the worst auditions for So You Think You Can Dance and add the episode of Glee where the girl thinks she's the BEST SINGER EVER, but she can't hit a note to save her life-- that was me.

I tried though. I wanted it. And to some degree I had success. I was a cheerleader in 9th grade and on the dance team in 11th and 12th. In college I was in the dance troupe. I also sang my litte heart out in the chorus of a couple of musicals. But that was it.

Still I had enthusiasm for the creative process. I knew I loved being around it. Watching something come to life before my eyes was magical.

Then I wrote a book... and FOUND MY REAL PASSION.

In a story I can make all of my characters do exactly what I want, when I want. They can sing like a songbird or sound like crap. Dance like Baryshnikov or Buzz Lightyear. Anything is possible in a book.

In EXILED, Venus doesn't know what passion is, until she's sent to Earth.

This past week Angela Kulig (PIGMENTS OF MY IMAGINATION) and Melanie McCullough (BREATHE) decided not to release with Dark C.A.R.M.A. on 11/11/11. They will be releasing their books on November 21st. We'll be sure to post the information on their release as soon as we have it!

We are beyond sad to see Angela and Mel go. BUT we can't wait to support them and cheer for them when their books come out.
